As someone who spent years completely disconnected from my body—stuck in a cycle of food and body obsession—I know what it feels like. I understand the fear and anxiety around food.
The shame and guilt when you can no longer ‘keep up’ with being ‘good’ around food. The crushing sense of failure when you feel out of control. The isolation that comes from keeping it all a secret.
For so long, I thought my willpower was the problem. I believed if I could just try harder, be more disciplined, I’d finally find peace.
But no matter how much I controlled, restricted, or punished myself, I was still trapped—mentally, emotionally, and even physically.
I now know that what I was experiencing wasn’t a lack of discipline—it was my nervous system stuck in survival mode.
I was constantly overstimulated, bouncing between fight-or-flight and freeze, trapped in patterns that kept me disconnected from my body’s true needs.
Mindset and behaviors matter—but without a regulated nervous system, nothing will stick.
